Paul was born in Sheffield, and moved to Guernsey with his family. Paul was educated at the Guernsey Grammar School, Bristol University and studied for the English Bar at University of the West of England. Paul became an advocate in 2005, having been called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2003. He became a partner of the firm in 2012.
Paul is a well regarded trial lawyer in both the criminal and matrimonial fields, he acts for both privately funded and legally aided clients in the Royal Court, the Magistrate's Court and the Court of Alderney. In particular, Paul has acquired a growing reputation in divorce cases and has represented both parents and children (via the Safeguarder Service) in public law cases. Paul also advises private clients regarding estate planning and property matters.
